QBU-BT-10 kV Pockels Cell Drivers
Product details
QBU-BT-10kV is a bench-top (table-top) Pockels cell driver designed for the laboratory usage and based on OEM Pockels cell driver QBU-10kV. Key parameters/features are:
- Extremely flexible topology;
- Push-up scheme, pull-down scheme, mixed or user-defined in one module (duplicates at its HV output the external driving TTL signal);
- Up to 10 kV output voltage;
- Up to 5 kHz repetition rate at maximal voltage, up to 50 kHz at lower voltages;
- < 20 nsec rise/fall time;
- Perfectly suitable for the laboratory purposes.

Product Description
QBU-BT-10kV is an extension of QBU-BT-series with up to 10kV operating voltage range. Due to high output voltage, it may be used with Pockels cells working in λ/2 schemes, or in lasers with longer wavelengths.
Drivers allow operations in three different operating modes (pull down scheme (= normally on), push up scheme (= normally off), and external synchronization mode (= repetition of external low voltage signal)), and therefore suit ideally for the laboratory usage.
QBU-BT-series consist of six Pockels cell drivers, designed for different output voltages (ranging up to 6.0 kV) and operating schemes [see also How to Order (?) section].
All drivers allow functionality in three different operating modes [pull down scheme (= normally on), push up scheme (= normally off) and external synchronization mode (= repetition of the external low voltage TTL signal)] and therefore suit ideally for the laboratory usage.

Due to high efficiency and embedded forced air cooling multi-kilohertz operations are possible even at maximal output voltage.
Performance
In internal synchronization mode performance of QBU-BT-10kV is limited to values presented in the Table below. Total load capacitance of Pockels cell and connective cable is assumed as 23 pF (this corresponds to a fairly long 50 cm output HV cable bent in non-optimal way and higher than normal Pockels cell capacitance).
| Output voltage, kV | Repetition rate, kHz (*) |
|---|---|
| 4.00-4.99 | 50 |
| 5.00-5.99 | 30 |
| 6.00-6.99 | 25 |
| 7.00-7.99 | 20 |
| 8.00-8.99 | 15 |
| 9.00-10.0 | 5-10 |
Higher performance can be achieved in external synchronization mode. In burst mode (i.e. for short term operations), the performance increases by at least a factor of two and exceeds 100 kHz at low operating voltages and low load capacitances. The performance deteriorates for higher load capacitance.
Applications
- q-switching, pulse slicing, Pulse picking, Advanced Beam Control
